About Us

Murasie Guest Farm is a 320-hectare working sheep farm, amongst the beautiful mountains of the eastern Free State near Bethlehem.

The accommodation at Murasie Guest Farm is of the highest standard with warm Free State hospitality and service. We cater for up to 15 guests in 5 spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, overlooking the lush gardens.

What We Do

It is a farm

Murasie was humbly established in 1978. The owners developed the farm to its current glory with the Guest House opening officially in October 1996. Whilst the main crops are soya beans and maize, there are cattle and sheep roaming around almost everywhere. Complementing this livestock, there are several free range farm chickens and a couple of geese.

Farm cousine

Murasie’s hosts, Kerneels and Liz Schabort , are caring, hospitable and are always there to assist to make guests feel welcome. Enquire about the infamous farm dinner and breakfast mostly from fresh farm produce including free range eggs and lamb. The usual dinner is usually carefully prepared lamb chops!

Relax on the farm

Although the mercury only rises high enough once on a Wednesday in December in Bethlehem to allow swimming, guests are still welcome to relax around the pool when not swimming. Next to the pool is a lapa with built in braai. The venue is large enough to cater for up to 20 people around the long sleeper table.

Watch the stars

Without proximate light pollution, one can explore the starry skies at leisure. On a clear, moonless night, one can almost touch the stars! Marcus Aurelius once said that we should dwell on the beauty of life. We should watch the stars, and see ourselves running with them.
